You’ll drive through historic Hilo Town and scenic Banyan Drive before reaching Hawaii Volcanoes National Park where you can visit the Jagger Museum, Thurston Lava Tube, Kilauea Iki Crater and traverse the Chain of Craters Road (the closest approach to lava flows) to view some of the most recent lava flows. Special Note: Lava viewing conditions change daily and there are no guarantees of viewing lava. On some days the best approach involves hiking over rough, uneven, lava surfaces.
